Razorback #450

The mud slinging Razorback #450. Oh! how I love to Tankshock Eldar and Cadians with you! For this tank, I used allot of Tamiya weathering sticks. I found they have a tendency of flaking off, so I sealed them with some 'Ard Coat. If you've been following my blog, you would have noticed I used allot of soot around the engines, exhaust and gun barrels. How I've done this, is I used Tamiya weather powder soot black. I used some paint thinner to apply the soot, which make it stick better.

Predator #317

Today's vehicle is the highly decorated Predator #317. The tank shows normal battlefield repairs that would be done to keep the tank in service. As before, the Latin name for this tank has not been chosen. Feel free to comment a good name!

During the Third War for Armageddon, this Predator was part of a three vehicle convoy, when they were attacked by Orks! During the fighting, its companion tanks were wrecked, and it had to continue fighting on its own. Ammunition running low, the fighting resided temporarily which gave time for the survivors of Predator #321 time to transfer more ammunition and man the pintle gun. With Commander Colos now on the pintlegun, they turned back the massive green wave. The aftermath showed that over 1400 orks were killed in that engagement, earning this tank the solid bronze Aquila Plaque to display!

Eldar Obelisk

Hey ya! Fox here with a little review of the Foundations of War: Small Elven Road Marker. I have to say I really like the look of this obelisk, the detail is nice though I wish the marking were just a little deeper. This was a lot of fun to paint though very few the bubbles posed a little challenge.

During painting I really liked working with how smooth the sides were yet they had a little texture. As you can see the bubbles in the details were a little tricky to fill but didn't really cause much of a head ach.

Tossing it on a base went well, this is my first time working with plaster so I took a little white glue and painted the bottom let it dry then used super glue to glue it to the base. I hope this will make a it a little easier in the future should I want to change the base. If you have a good idea about how to glue plaster to bases please post it in the comments. Overall I'm really happy with this product and would make a great addition to anyones terrain be it fantasy or sci fi table top gaming.

Rhino #190

Rhino #190 is the fifth vehicle in the series. This vehicle started life as a Ultra Marines whirlwind from there 3rd company. The vehicle was salvaged by the Salamanders during an operation on Armageddon. It was found in poor condition, and the launchers were unserviceable. it was decided that the vehicle would serve a better purpose as a Rhino, and thanks to STC tech, it took little time to have it repaired. The sandbags provide extra cover for the driver when he needs to take a look at his surroundings.

Deamonhunters Codex: Answer from Gamesworkshop

I emailed Gamesworkshop to find out whats going on with the PDF codex released on the website. The only thing I edited is itallics, font color and spacing. I did censor out my email address for bot protection. Everything else is copied directly from my email.

Subject: Rule Book question

I noticed there is a codex: deamonhunters pdf now on the website
The english version is missing the inducted guard/marines, where the german/french/itallian/spanish version includes the allies part
Does that mean that English speaking people got a mistake on the book?
Does this PDF override the paper codex I just purchased for 30$?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mitchell!

The new PDF is up for the people who do not have access to buy the codex anymore. The missing Alies section in the U.S format is indeed a mistake. And whichever one the tournament/event organizer says to use is the one that we have to abide by. I know that for our tournaments we will be using the Physical codex and NOT the PDF. I hope this helps!

Thanks!

Imperial Guard Grenadier Vets WIP

This is a kitbash I did recently with a box of cadians and some void junkers. I ordered the junker sprues from Scotia Grendel http://www.scotiagrendel.com/Products/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=59_64&products_id=432

The heads I used were from Pig Iron productions http://www.pig-iron-productions.com/hd2-kolony-militia-head-sprues-p-13.html

The plastic void junkers work perfectly with guard plastics. The backpacks line up really well. The arms have ball joints which makes them very easy to cut for any pose you may want. The shotguns look pretty good and scale well with heroic scale models. The riot shields are fantastic, I see a lot of potential for anyone wanting to make some adeptus arbites conversions.

I plan on running these as standard vets or grenadier vets, the shield conferring a 4+ save ala carapace armor. I'm considering kitbashing the leftover bits with some warhammer cavalry to make roughriders. The junker bodies are a little stiff but they'd work well on horses. I also think there's potential to use them to make some inquisition stuff. They'd be a good starting point for making your own assassin models.

Predator #609

Lucky Number four is Predator #609. She is a little rusty, but extended years in the field can do that to an old girl. She carries a tow cable to pull friendly vehicles out of danger. If anyone wants to name her, please comment below with a nice Latin saying.

Future Project: Storm Wardens

After seeing the amazing work done by Ron and other members of From the Warp it has been very inspirational to say the least. So its decided what the left overs will be used for!
As for painting them up, I don't have allot of spare time on my hands. My wedding is soon, work is busy and I have other projects on the go. So, I am looking for a way to get them painted with a minimal effort. There is a few products out there, but one caught my eye: Army Painter Quickshade. If I do use Quickshade, I'll post an article and review on how it works.

Razorback #541

Today will showcase the third vehicle in the series, which is a Salamander's Razorback. This vehicle has seen less damage on the front, and it shows. Maybe its the multiple purity seals, or the dedicated work of the assigned techmarine! Either way this Razorback provides its assigned squad the heavy firepower they need to prevail!

Incoming! The Island of Blood

Look what I found in my email today:

Incoming! The Island of Blood

The Warhammer world; it is a place riven by battle, where mighty armies clash for glory, honour or the entertainment of Dark Gods. Darkened skies, tortured by cataclysmic magics tear open and rain blood upon the ceaseless combatants and the landscape is wracked by the carnage around it. Trees writhe in mutated agony, lashing out with limb and branch and rivers flow thick with the corpses of the slain. All upon the land are consumed by the unending battle, an age of war in which victory and defeat hang in the balance.

Cast against this macabre tableau fight mighty armies -warriors by their million raise banners of defiance or icons of dismay, taking up arms in the clash for survival. Beleaguered and surrounded, the forces of Order fight desperately to stem the tide of the armies of Destruction. Delighting in the carnage and ruination, the Dark Gods look on.

The Island of Blood is but one battleground upon the face of the Warhammer world, a mystical and dangerous place that has been twisted and mutated by the warping power of Chaos. In ages past the Island of Blood was a battleground upon which armies have bled and died in the ageless battle for supremacy... and they will do so again. Soon.

The Island of Blood is the new boxed game for Warhammer and is released this September. Packed full of stunning plastic Citadel miniatures and containing all the rules, dice and templates you'll need to play, it's the essential purchase for fans of the Warhammer hobby.

Meanwhile, if you like the Battle for Skull Pass boxed game (and who wouldn't with all those Goblins and Dwarfs) then it only seems fair to point out that once the last few remaining copies are gone they're gone, and they're never coming back! Pick one up while stocks last.

In August we'll feature more information about The Island of Blood on games-workshop.com and the full details will be released in September's White Dwarf.

Rhino #728

The second vehicle in this series, is the Salamander's Rhino #728. It is a very battle worn vehicle showing many, many years of service! A field repair has been done to the stormbolter, which has been damaged. It was replaced with a pair of bolters from fallen comrades. Its regular customers are 10 space marines, toking a flamer, heavy bolter and a powersword wielding Sargent! As before, this tank is currently a number only, and could use a name in Latin!

My main army is guard but I also have a few thousand points of tau. Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself, I'll be contributing some conversions and other stuff from time to time. I'll leave you with a few shots of my guard army.

Predator #501

Hi guys, Today will the first in a series of seven posts that will be showing some oy my recently finished vehicles for my Salamanders Battle Company.

First up is a Predator tank #501. It has a few minor battlefield repairs done, and shows just how gritty combat can get in the 41st Millennium. I haven't christened the tank yet, so if anyone has any ideas what to call it in Latin, please leave a comment!
